Is a person ever truly alone when living with memories, sounds, and space?

 

 

The short documentary “Together Alone” shows the life of Shura and Ofelya, an old couple who have lived alone for nearly fifty years in a small house, cut off from the vast flow of the outside world. The film begins and ends in that very small house where their life passed.

The story starts from the moment Ofelya is no longer alive and moves backward in time. 

 

Time plays a crucial role in the film, flowing not linearly but in a circular, sometimes even frozen manner. 

 

The house, with its worn walls, open doors, and silent objects, becomes a spatial memory — a microcosm telling how disappearance turns into existence. 

 

Shura’s present daily life and images of Ofelya’s living days merge into one universe where the past has not gone away, and the present has yet to win.
